    Prescription Drug Abuse 

    FACTS  

     

      Prescription painkiller overdoses killed nearly 15,000 people last year.  

     

    Prescription medicines are now the most commonly abused drugs among 12 to 13 year olds, and today more accidental deaths occur from drug overdoses, fueled by prescription painkillers, than from car crashes. 

     

    Enough prescription painkillers were prescribed in 2010 to medicate every American adult around-the-clock for

     1 month.
