    Presenters Bio

Dr. Robert Martin leads the University of Mary Workforce Development Department as the Senior Curriculum Design Specialist. He has been in this role since the department’s inception in 2018.

Prior to UMary, Robert served in K-12 education as a science teacher as well as school administrator. He hails as a “Comet” from the small Class B town of Underwood, North Dakota just 50 miles north of here. He has much of the university system covered as he earned his Bachelor’s from Dickinson State (Go Blue Hawks), Master’s from the University of Mary (Go Marauders) and his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of North Dakota (Yes, Go Sioux #sorrynotsorry). Dr. Martin was integral in helping Minot High School – Central Campus earn the distinction of Professional Learning Community “Model School” in 2010 and it remains as the only school in North Dakota to have received that prestigious award today.

His main goal now is to make the University of Mary Workforce Development Department the premiere place for businesses to go to upskill and enhance their workforce while meeting these challenges head on. He would tell you that his “crown jewel” accomplishment while being at the University of Mary is lifting the only statewide executive leadership program called “Leadership North Dakota,” which is now in its third year of operation.

Robert’s hobbies include softball, playing guitar, and spending time with family and friends.
