    • An overview of all the areas the Department of Labor and Human Rights enforces.

    Presenter: Zachary Greenberg

Zachary Greenberg was appointed Commissioner of the North Dakota Department of Labor and Human Rights by Governor Kelly Armstrong in April 2025. In this role, he leads the department’s efforts to enforce the state’s labor laws and protect the rights of North Dakota workers.

Before his appointment, Greenberg served as a Legal and Policy Advisor under Governor Doug Burgum, where he worked on labor, agriculture, housing, workforce development, and stakeholder engagement initiatives.

Greenberg is a former professional football player, having spent time in the Canadian Football League, and brings a team-oriented, disciplined approach to public service. He held leadership roles throughout his academic career, including serving as President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee at the University of Minnesota Crookston, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Sport and Recreation Management. He later earned his Juris Doctor from the University of North Dakota School of Law, where he served as President of the Business Law Association and Vice President of the Sports Law Students Association. He is licensed to practice law in the state of North Dakota.

Originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Greenberg has lived in the United States for 10 years and now calls Bismarck home. He brings a practical, solutions-focused approach to government, grounded in his commitment to fairness, accountability, and the rule of law.
