    Compensation: Local and National Learn and Share

    Location:
    Elks Lodge in the large meeting room where receptions and dances are held. Members will go through the buffet line in the restaurant and order as much or as little as they want and pay the cashier. Members will bring their tray into the large meeting room where the business meeting and presentation will take place.

    Part: 2

    Lynn will lead a round table discussion following the presentation. Possible topics to be discussed during the roundtable:

    • What current compensation concerns do you have in your own organization?
    • How has ND oil development impacted your organization?
    • How does compensation rank as an HR priority in your organization
    • Have you experienced the impact of globalization?
    • Has “say on pay” been an issue in your organization?
    • Do you have any advice for new or returning migrants to ND?

    Speakers:

    Mr. Lynn L. Hart

    Lynn Hart’s career includes about 20 years in New York City working at the NYSE Euronext (New York Stock Exchange Group), Securities Industry Automation Corporation (SIAC) and Philip Morris Management Corporation; plus several years in Milwaukee with Miller Brewing Company.  Throughout his career, he has focused primarily on planning and implementing employee & executive compensation programs, qualified and non-qualified retirement plans and employee welfare benefit plans as well as on increasing the use of technology and automation in the Human Resources function.

    Lynn and his family left New York in 2009 to become owner/operators of a motel/restaurant/lounge in Iowa.  However, after that break from human resources, Lynn decided to return to working in his chosen field.  He and his family moved to Bismarck in 2010, where he has worked for both Basin Electric and the State of North Dakota. 

    Lynn’s educational background includes a B.A. in Sociology from Minnesota State University Moorhead, an M.S. in Industrial Relations from Iowa State University and an M.A. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.  He has also received certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS).

    This program has been submitted for 1.0 hour of recertification credit by the HR Certification Institute (HRCI).
