    Authentic Servant-Leadership in the Workplace: Why it’s Needed More Today Than Ever Before

    Elks Lodge in the large meeting room where receptions and dances are held. Members will go through the buffet line in the restaurant and order as much or as little as they want and pay the cashier. Members will bring their tray into the large meeting room where the business meeting and presentation will take place.

    Topic:

    This session will provide participants with an ability to understand what servant-leadership is (and what it is not) and provide compelling reasons for the inclusion of this style of leadership in the workplace. The session will provide a self-assessment for participants and/or their leaders as well as a challenge for applying the principles which will be discussed.

    Speaker:

    Dr. Karel Sovak, Associate Professor - University of Mary

    Dr. Karel Sovak's teaching and facilitation includes courses in management, marketing, entrepreneurship and leadership. In addition, his work includes strategic planning, feasibility and competitive analysis, and board governance with both for and not-for-profit organizations. Karel is also a freelance writer for a number of publications and regional magazines, and is a board member of the Bis-Man Transit, and 31:8 Project. Karel completed his doctoral work in Applied Management and Decision Sciences, specializing in Organizational Change and Leadership with Walden University. He is married, with five children and three grandchildren.
